April 2017: Domestic Abuse Perpetrators

Dr Amanda Robinson

Cardiff University

This workshop considered how social workers can adapt their practice to more effectively identify the risks posed to clients from domestic abuse perpetrators. The Priority Perpetrator Identification Tool (PPIT), developed in Wales, will be introduced. The PPIT is designed to help frontline practitioners identify a subset of perpetrators considered the most dangerous and thus priorities for multi-agency monitoring and management. Pilot projects incorporating the PPIT will be discussed. The session will encourage group discussion of case examples to develop practical skills. It is suitable for practitioners and support workers from both adult social work and child and family social work.
