Delivering a Whole School Approach to Emotional and Mental Wellbeing: examples of practice schools reported as helpful
This Welsh Government report presents examples of practice that schools across Wales found helpful when implementing a Whole School Approach to Emotional and Mental Wellbeing (WSAEMWB). The approach stems from growing concern about young people’s mental health—concerns intensified by the pandemic and cost‑of‑living pressures. As the report notes, “whole school approaches recognise that it is not just the school curriculum that educates and influences learner health and wellbeing, but all aspects of the school environment.”
The research involved five stages, including scoping interviews, coordinator group interviews, school workshops, case studies, and feedback sessions. Twenty‑three schools participated, representing diverse contexts across Wales.
