Education Welfare Services: The effectiveness of the support that the Education Welfare Service (EWS) provides to schools and parents/carers to tackle persistent absenteeism
This report looks at how well Education Welfare Services (EWSs) support schools, PRUs, and parents and carers to tackle persistent absence from school. It draws on evidence from inspections and discussions with EWSs and schools across 9 local authorities, including 21 primary, 18 secondary and 6 all-age schools. The report highlights what is working well and where there is room for improvement.
