Developed by the ACAMH, the Child and Family Training UK (C&FT), and Improved Futures (IF) this training approach is based on pilot trainings commissioned by Kent County Council to address the traumatic responses of Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children and Young people (UASC) directly, and training for foster carers of UASC to address them. The approaches developed are relevant for all Adopted and Looked After Children and young people given the extensive traumatic experiences suffered by many Adopted, Looked After Children and young people, and will form the basis of the seminars.

  • Seminar 1: Establishing the Needs of Looked After Children and The 4D Model Dealing with Distress (Mansell, Urmson and Mansell 2020) (Wednesday 8 March) 
  • Seminar 2: Fast Feet Forward – a protocol to address Complex Trauma of Looked After children (Wednesday 15 March) 
  • Session 3: Developing skills to address Anxiety and Threat, Low Mood and Disruptive Behaviour (Wednesday 22 March) 
  • Session 4: Creating a Trauma Narrative to cope with Traumatic Experiences and Adverse Life Experiences (Wednesday 29 March)
