Up to £3,000 to support existing or emerging networks of researchers in Wales to create new research collaboration activities.

Research Culture Networks can take many forms, examples include networks focused on challenges faced at a particular career stage, removing barriers for researchers with protected characteristics and communities organised around specific disciplines or cross-disciplinary research interests. Research networks can operate within a single institution or across institutions. They may be based in a single academic discipline or be interdisciplinary.

The scheme is open to researchers and research enabling staff based in Wales.

ECR Travel and Expenses Bursaries

Value of the Funding: Between £100 and £1,000

Open to: Early Career Researchers in any discipline

Deadline: 13 February 2026 at 4pm

Essential support for Early Career Researchers (ECRs) to attend engagement activities for knowledge exchange, enhancing research profiles, and expanding professional networks.

Priority will be given to applicants who will be speaking, presenting or, in other ways, participating formally in an event, which could include conferences, panels, roundtables, forums, and research visits. Costs covered by the bursaries include public transport, standard accommodation, event registration fees and reasonable assistance. 

The bursaries are supported through the generous contributions of Fellows of the Learned Society of Wales.

Funding for school visits to local museums in Wales

The Group for Education in Museums (Cymru) Museum Visit Bursary scheme, funded by the Welsh Government’s culture division, offers grants up to £1,000 to help state-maintained schools in Wales take their students to an accredited museum in their area.
