We are Your Life Your Story a small charity managed by a group of five trustees who are care-experienced adults and caregivers. At Your Life Your Story we acknowledge the scientifically proven links between childhood adversity, social isolation, and adult mental health and wellbeing; and we appreciate that valuable insights, understanding, and connections can be shared through our collective lived experience. In recognition of this we develop and deliver experience informed creative workshops, presentations, training, and events; contributing to conferences, delivering workshops with children, young people, and care-experienced adults and training to professionals.

Through Your Life Your Story we develop safe, supportive, creative spaces where individuals can connect with each other and their stories through the arts. One of the events that we host is an annual creative residential event that brings care experienced adults and caregivers together with published authors, poets and artists to learn the techniques of storytelling through the arts in a therapeutically supported environment. The event offers a reflective space to the care experienced community who do not usually have access to a creative writing space, and an opportunity to unleash the power of relationships and the untold story…

Many of our Your Life Your Story participants remain connected and our community has grown nationally since the first event in the autumn of 2017. Your Life Your Story is home to a diverse community with a shared identity. As our collective voice grows, so does our determination to make a positive contribution to improving services for vulnerable children and the adult’s they become, all through mutually rewarding relationships reclaimed through the shared narrative of lived experience.

As a small charity we appreciate the kindness and support of those who pledge their donations, so that Your Life Your Story are able to deliver our unique creative residential events. We are currently fundraising for our 2020 creative residential. If you would like to pledge you support you can do so by visiting our Just Giving page.
